Sketchbooks

A while back I started using a sketchbook for oil painting practice. It puts you in a different mindset working on paper and being limited with the size, though it’s a good way to experiment without any pressures. The first few were done directly on the untreated watercolour paper, now I give the paper a single coat of gesso which stops the oils from soaking in and makes the colour a little more vibrant.  Here’s a few examples from my Moleskine 8 x 5″ & 11.5 x 8″ 350 gsm watercolour sketchbook.
